- Garlic 15cloves
- Gingerly oil 2tbs
- Onion 1 large
- Tamarind paste 3tbs
- Coriander Seeds 2tbs
- Red chilli 5-6
- Cumin seeds 1tbs
- Whole pepper 1tsp
Asafoetida powder 1tsp
Turmeric powder 1tsp
Salt to taste
- Mustard seeds 1tsp
- Cumin seeds 1 tsp
- Fennel seeds 1tsp
- Curry leaves
Method:
- Finely chop the onions.
- Heat the kadai and fry the coriander,red chilli, cumin seeds and whole pepper.
- Remove the fried ingredients from the kadai and let it cool for few minutes and blended it into fine powder.
- Add the oil and when its hot add all the seasoning ingredients.
- Once the seasoning splitters, add the garlic and fry for a minute and then add the Asafoetida powder.
- Add the onions and fry till it becomes soft.Add salt and turmeric powder.
- Now add the masala powder and fry for few minutes on medium flame.[do not burn the masala powder]
- Dilute the tamarind paste with 1/2 cup of water and add it to the onion mixture.
- Add 1 cup of water and let it cook for 8-10 mins.[If required u can add some more water]
- Once the oil collects on top,switch off the flame.
- Yummy Garlic Kuzhlambu is ready to serve with hot rice.
